Although there
are several Open Source solutions providers in Malaysia, none
have showed any prominence in capturing and dominating the
market by and large due to the completeness of their offerings
as well as perceived inadequate abilities to be an ‘enterprise
player’. Xanadu will position itself as a provider of
end-to-end Open Source solutions that will cater the small
and medium-sized enterprises to the large multinational organizations,
from strategic IT planning, project management and implementation,
various support levels and training and development. With
a slew of offerings to the market, Xanadu will tailor its
marketing strategies at two key markets, the public sector
and private organizations.
Public sector markets represent a large potential following
the government’s “Public Sector Open Source Initiative”.
The year 2006 would see the roll out of this initiative on
a wider scale with the Malaysian Administration Modernization
Planning Unit in the Prime Minister’s department leading
the way. This represents a golden opportunity for Xanadu to
‘capture’ the public sector market and establish
itself as the premier Open Source solutions provider.
The private sector has, albeit
slowly, begun the adoption of Open Source Software as the
core component of its IT infrastructure. Many large organizations
including those in the power, telecommunications,
manufacturing and financial industries have begun incorporating
Open Source within their IT strategies as a means to significantly
reduce TCO.
With the appropriate partnership and joint ventures, Xanadu
can then propel itself as the preferred Open Source solutions
provider in this country as well as in Asia Pacific.
